Review Methodology

This page explains how reviews and comparisons on Locksmith Trade are put together.

Research-based by default

Unless a review explicitly states hands-on testing, our reviews and comparisons are based on manufacturer specifications, public documentation, pricing pages, and other citable sources — not on hands-on use. We do not claim testing that has not taken place.

Hands-on testing, where stated

Where a review states that a product was tested directly, that claim will only be made when genuine testing has occurred, and will describe what was tested.

Pricing

Pricing is sourced from the vendor’s published pricing where available. Where pricing is not publicly published, we state that rather than estimating a figure.

Comparisons

Comparison tables and “best for” verdicts are built from the criteria stated on the page itself. Every comparison includes a methodology note and a limitations section describing what the comparison could not cover.

Updates

Reviews carry a visible last-updated date. Material changes (e.g. a pricing change or a new version of a product) are reflected with an updated date.
